About
Renata Elis is a Brazilian-born American playwright, director, theatre teacher, and
screenwriter whose work focuses on female-driven stories with social and political depth,
with a dash of humor, because who gets through any of this without a laugh.
She has developed multiple original projects for stage and screen and has received
recognition through awards and festival selections. Renata holds a BA in Performing Arts
from Arizona State University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education from Murdoch
University, and a Diploma in Dramatic Arts from Célia Helena Center for Arts and
Education.
In recent years, she has expanded her work into cultural criticism and narrative
nonfiction. She has lived and worked in Brazil, the United States, Australia, Spain, and
Andorra, experiences that inform the global perspective of her first nonfiction book,
Inclusion Has an Expiration Date.
